Great Falls of the Potomac River

Great Falls is located 14 miles upstream from Washington DC where the Potomac passes through the Mather Gorge, falling 76 feet in elevation in less than 1 mile. These photos were taken in Great Falls Park which is maintained by the National Park Service on the Virginia side of the Potomac.
